BIO

To understand Nahko’s music, one must delve into his past marked by acts of violence and his diverse cultural identities. Being of Apache and Puerto Rican descent, he began developing his own brand of folk-inspired music, which characterizes him today. He draws inspiration from his heritage and travels to places like Alaska and Hawaii.

His first album with Nahko and Medicine for the People, “On The Verge,” was released in 2010, reflecting this exploration. The group’s second album, “Dark As Night,” released in March 2015 in Europe, reveals Nahko’s evolving ideas about self-discovery and acceptance.

As a passionate singer, Nahko aims to raise awareness among his audience about climate change, respect, and cultural diversity. Following in the footsteps of Bob Marley, he seeks to bring people together to overcome differences. Nahko expresses this sensitivity on stage. The group has toured with artists such as SOJA, Michael Franti, and Xavier Rudd.

Beloved in the USA and Oceania, the group has toured extensively with SOJA, Michael Franti, and Xavier Rudd. In 2019, their European tour included two dates in France in July, at La Maroquinerie in Paris and Le Rocher de Palmer in Bordeaux. On stage, Nahko and Medicine for the People sing about love for the Earth and others, respect, and peace, offering the audience a true moment of escape, joy, and unity through their music.
