BIO

Kaiwan is the new reggae band hailing from Marseille, France. The group, comprised of 13 members, first met in 2016 at the renowned jazz school in Salon de Provence, IMFP. At the helm of this project is Fabien, who has been involved in the reggae scene for 20 years and has had the opportunity to collaborate with some of Jamaica’s greatest stars, including Max Roméo, Toots, The Congos, Israël Vibration, and Julian Marley, for an international tribute to the painter Fluoman.

Since their inception, the tribe has been crafting a unique musical identity rooted in their beliefs, combining conscious French lyrics with reggae infused with jazz elements. Their songs touch the hearts and minds of listeners, exploring diverse themes such as love, the challenges of our world, and the perspective of fatherhood.

Following the release of their debut single ‘A La Dérive’ in March, featuring Harrison Stafford, the lead vocalist of the renowned American band Groundation, the group is now presenting their second single ‘Minot,’ a preview of their upcoming debut album ‘Lettre Ouverte A Babylone,’ scheduled for release in 2021. The band is supported by the Soulbeats Records label (known for artists such as Naâman, Groundation, and Toure Kunda).
