BIO
Daddy G is a British singer and musician, primarily known for his work in the genres of hip-hop and trip hop. He is one of the founding members of the trip hop group Massive Attack.
Born in Bristol to Antillean parents, Grant Evan Marshall joined the Bristol music scene as a member of the sound system group The Wild Bunch in the 1980s, which also included two other future members of Massive Attack, Robert Del Naja (3D) and Andrew Vowles (Mushroom). At that time, Daddy G was one of the youngest DJs in the city.
In 1986, The Wild Bunch disbanded, and Del Naja, Vowles, and Marshall went on to form the trip hop group Massive Attack, which is considered a pioneer of the underground Bristol scene alongside Portishead and Tricky.
In addition to his contributions to Massive Attack’s albums, Marshall also mixed a compilation of tracks for the DJ-Kicks series in 2004.
In 2017, he remixed a track by Gonjasufi on his album Mandela Effect: Your Maker (Daddy G Remix).
Since his latest DJ-Kicks release, Daddy G continues to compile influential tracks and new releases to offer the best during his mixes. On his Instagram account (with over 12K followers), he regularly invites his followers to send him music to fuel his projects. During his DJ sets, this undisputed master of the turntables treats his audience to powerful vibrations of reggae, dub, trip hop, and other delightful genres!
